A powerful portfolio involves so much more than just a strong grasp of the technical aspects of photography–it’s a complex mix of style, techniques, and intriguing ideas. Many photographers struggle to achieve a high-impact portfolio, feeling that they lack the creative spark to invigorate them and move their work forward.
Creative 52 is that spark–and your guide to a new and more creative portfolio in just one year! A remedy for that “average” portfolio, this collection of innovative projects will help portrait, wedding, and fashion photographers build a portfolio that draws the attention of editors and clients–leaving the competition behind. While other how-to books often use bland imagery simply to prove a technical point, and many fine art books are filled with beautiful imagery but contain minimal (if any) educational insights to help working photographers, this book blends both: inspiration and knowledge that you can use to create images that attract potential clients.
Divided into three parts–concept, technique, and post-processing–author Lindsay Adler’s 52 challenges each contain a description of the project, potential inspiration and suggestions of other artists to check out, and her own unique solution to the challenge–all to push you beyond your comfort zone to explore new ideas and approaches to your work.

I ordered a signed copy of this book and it might just be the most treasured thing on my entire shelf! In the introduction, she tells a story about a meeting with an editor that shook her entire career. That story reaonated with me in an incredibly personal way. I feel like this book is a collection of creative experimentation that came from the most raw motivation. I love it. I have had it in my possession for about two weeks now, and I've already started gathering elements to create my new portfolio. My work is good- well executed and beautiful, but not striking. Through my upcoming projects inspired by this book, I hope to create a whole new portfolio that I can be proud of. I want people to remember my work. This will definitely help.
Thank you so much for the kind words it's glad to hear that someone appreciates the book so much! I wish you the best of luck :)
Not completely finished reading it, but I am loving it so far!
I Love It!!! :)
I purchased the book "Creative 52" to help me focus on my photography. The ideas are well thought out and I am looking forward to implementing them into my weekly 2016 personal photo challenge.
Although I recently purchased this book and have not finished reading it, I have already gained a higher respect for the author - Lindsay Adler. I have been a fan of Lindsay through her other books and videos. This book demonstrates Lindsay's struggles in the beginning, and creative ways to challenge herself to increase her photographic skills. By following the creative process steps demonstrated in this book, it can help anyone who needs to improve their creative juices and photography on a "time at your own pace" over the course of a year. Great inspirational reading for most photographic levels.
love 52 project and I am working on it
Lindsay, I am just loving your book! Things have slowed down for me the past couple months and I am so inspired by all of the challenges at just the perfect time! Thanks for all you do and teach!!
I love it. My favorite part (so far) is the introduction. Lindsay's description of her creative process and how to go from some vague image in my head to an actual image that other people can see has already been super helpful. After the introduction, being like a class in itself, the rest of the homework assignments will keep me going/growing for at least a year. In my former career I was extremely successful. One of the reasons is that i never stopped going to school. Same goes with photography, my current career. Although I am just starting I will continue that same philosophy of continued education and hopefully it will turn out just as successful.
Luv Luv Lindsay approach to photography..great book that get's your creative juices going.
